My love of experimenting with new styles has resulted in a mix of medium, shape and colour as I endeavour to incorporate them into our wonderful New Zealand landscapes. Recently I have become infatuated with the drama of the southern hills.

'You need the dark to show the light' has inspired me to begin with a dark canvas, introducing light to create drama. The blendability of oils makes them a favourite for this, but I also find the unpredictable merging of subtle colours and sharp dramatic brights of watercolour and ink exciting, experiencing many 'happy accidents' along with the inevitable disasters, always seeking to find that elusive 'something' that brings satisfaction as I play.
Living in the wonderful world of retirement finds me out on my bike with my buddy (husband), phone/camera always in my pocket, ready for anything that will inspire a new work. It also allows me to join the Artitude group at Foxton's wonderful new Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom and Horowhenua Art Society, which both provide fun, camaraderie, and constructive criticism. |
